Air. Alcßobie, who headed t».«- deputation, read a resolution that had I men passed hv the School Committee, which stated that the pre—-nt school property was disconnected. It was at the side ot a creek that was used by the town as a -ewer, and cases of diphtheria occurred every year. Alost ot the building- were old and out-of-date. hour site- nad been offered as an alternative and on*had been selected that wa- in •-veryway suitable. The soil v.a- rich, and the place was well away irom tintraffic. It consisted ot -on;e -even acres which c-ould he acquired lor £9lO, while they had every rea- n to believe that the* present property, land and buildings, could fie -* .-I lor £IOOO. Land was rapidly increasing ill value, and if the Board did not now secure a new site, it would i»e met with a serious difficulty in the future. The chairman thanked tlie deputation !o> the fair statement they had made, and said it would f»e for the Board to apply tor a grant lor the purpose named. Eketahiina June 2 At the meeting ot the Education Board on Thursday, the deputation regarding the Pahiatua Di-tnct High School was favourably received. but in view of the importance of the project it was decided that the Chairman and Wairarapa members ot ti.«- Board visit Pahiatua and in-j>e*t the -it** and report to the next meeting.
