At the inquest on the body of William Maxezy, the jury returned a verdict, that death was caused by hemorrhage ot the brain, resulting from a fracture ot the skull, but how the fracture was caused there was no evidence to show. Lyttelton, May 30. Robert Dudley, master and owner ot the ketch Comet, was lound drowned in Lyttelton harbour alongside his vessel this morning. He was at old resident and a very steady man. Invercargill. May 31. At Willtoil Mrs. Welsh, aged 43. wife ot James Welsh, dairyman, was found drowned in a well this morning. She left a note asking the neighbours to he kind to her two children. Her husband sailed tor England a fortnight ago. A peculiar shooting accident is io. ported Irom Petone. It is stated that Edward Henry Horne, a member ot the Petone Navals on Tuesday morning fired a shot from a rifle at a cat. He beli *ved the bullet had buried itself in the ground, but it had not.
