THE BOKINYONI HILL FIGHT. THE TROOPS SURROUNDED. DARING ATTACKS BY THE REBELS. PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. Pietermaritzburg, Alay 31. Details of the Bokinyoni Hill fight are to hand. The camp was situated oil tlie hill. The whites formed two sides of tlie square and Sibindi’s men the other two sides. A succession of rushing, daring attacks and ruses were carried on from all sides. A herd ot cattle was moved against one lace of the square as a screen and to break the 'formation. The point was, however, held by the mounted men, and a volley checked the onrush. Tlie whole of the British position was soon surrounded. Colonel Leuchars planted riflemen amidst Sibindi’s forces, with the object of encouraging them. The enemy's rifle fire was good, but the casualties were insignificant, as tlie Britishers were lying on the ground and firing from behind their saddles.

Colonel Vanderplank, with the Zululand Alounted Rifles, and some of the Natal Carbineers and levies, under Lieutenants London and Sheepstone, carried out successful operations against the rebels in the Alpatu district. The rebels made a determined stand, charging twice, but the levies stabbed and shot 35 in the hush.

The troops at Dundee have begun a general forward movement.

REBELS ARMED IN OLD-FASH-IONED STYLE.

(Received this day at 7.42 a.in.) Pietermaritzburg. May 31. Some of the rebels are armed with battleaxes. Colonel Leuchars crossed the border and seiziil cattle, and entrenched at Mealie Garden, with Sihindi’s followers in the centre. The next morning a thousand rebels made a sudden and desperate attack. They shot continually at Sibindi's followers, killing three and wounding twelve. They were repulsed, after displaying the greatest bravery. Some were killed within a tew yards of their opponents' lines.
