Timber Duties.

The Federal House of Representatives is still discussing the timber duties. The point at issue is whether Oregon timber will be placed on the free list or whether 10 or 20 percent will be imposed.
The duty on Oregon Timber was reduced to sixpence per hundred superficial feet, the Government being defeated by thirteen. On the item of undressed timber, sizes less than seven by two and a half inches, tbe duty was reduced from 2s (id. to Is (id. Other duties are unaltered. The University Defaulter.
Here iii'il this Dan at 12 10 a.in. Melbourne, F'ebruary 27. Dickson, the defaulting accountant of Melbourne University was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment.
