Woodville Races.

The Woodville Jockey Club was favoured will) perfect weather lor its two days' meeting on Wednesday aud Thursday. The attendance was good on both days The amount put through the machines and the large well dressed crowd was convincing proof of the marvelous spending power of the people. The first day's sport passed off without the slightest hitch but yesterdays programo.e was marred by a chapter of accidenta. After examination by Dr Milne it was found that his arm aod collarbone were broken and that in addition he had received a bad shaking. He was sent to the Palmerston Hospital. The horse bad an eye gauged out and other injuries from the effects of which it is quite probable, he may not recover. In the following event, the Autumn 1 Handicap, Fashion broke a small hone in bis leg. The starting of Mr Tom Camercn on both days was exceptionally fine, the Hack Scurry, 15 starters being the only ragged start for the two days. Mr Golhard, the new secretary, is to be complimented upon the excellence of tbs arrangements while the President. Mr S. Bolton, ass.sted by a capital set of officials saw to it that every rope Main its place and therefore everything worked smoothly. The catering of Mr Youngsons, of Palmerston, was superior to any thing of the kiud we have yet seen. The total amount put through the machines for the meeting was £9,683. There is no doubt the meeting will show a substantial profit. The only double figure dividend was that paid by Wilson yesterday, he returning bis admirers £l9 6s.
