Mangatainoka y. Pahiatua.

The crioket match Pahiatua v. Mangatainoka, played on Saturday on the former's ground, resulted in a win for the home team by 20 runs in the first innings, Mangatainoka batted first and totalled 89, followed by Pahiatua with 65. The visitors in the second innings put up the creditable score of 91 for 0 wickets, when Williams declared the innings closed, hoping to get the home team out before the call of time and thus avert defeat on the first innings. The home team had 67 to make to win and had three-quarters of an hour to play, but at 6.30 p.m. 7 runs were still wanted and only five wickets were down.
