THE WELLINGTON-NAPIER RAILWAY.
The Block in the Traffic. A Remedy Suggested. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, This Day. Referring to tlie block in the traffic between Wellington and Napier, the Times says it is as well to face the truth, and the fact is the Government has attempted an impossible task. The Rimutaka inclino is blamed by tlie authorities, but the inc.line will be there for years- and should have been taken into account. In going over it, the whole available engine power is sometimes used, with the result that the fumes from the coal puts out the lumps and almost chokes the passengers. The Government ought to take the full advantage of the Manawatu line and get the traffic out of the bobble in which it is placed.
