A motion to strike out the felt bonus was negatived by 25 to 21. and to strike out the shipping master was negatived by 22 to 20. Mr Pirani moved to strike out tbe item £IOO for technical education.— Negatived by 28 to 9. Tbe House resumed at 7.80. The consideration of the supplementary estimates was resumed. Oil the motion of Mr Carncross. the item £950. permanent militia and volunteers, was reduced by £1 as an indication that free railway passes should be issued to volunteers proceeding to shooting meetings. The remaining votes were agreed to. Afterdiscussion, the supplementary estimates were recommitted and the £1 taken oil the vote totbe permanent militia and volunteers was restored oil the understanding that the Government would make more liberal provision in respect to railway passes for volunteers. The resolutions were agreed to. The Appropriation Bill was nitre duced and read the first and second time, and was committed and passed unamended.
