Arthur Bach, only released on probation frem the Avendale asylum nine weeks ago, suicided by taking prussic acid. A Wash-Out. Hokitika, This Day. The wash out of the chain of protective works alongside the river is causing considerable alarm for safety of the wharf and a portion of the town. The Brunner Cases. Wellington, This Day. Evidence for the defence is now being taken in the Brunner cases. There are only three or four witnesses, and if the cross-examination is not long the cases may finish this week.
