WELLINGTON LAND BOARD

The Land Board met on Thursday. Present—Messrs J. W. A. Marchant (Commissioner), in the chair, A. W. Hogg and J. Stevens, M.'sll.lt., and A. Reese.

The following applications for land wero approvea :—J. S. Williams, A. Moglian and W. J. Moore, Makuri; T. Bayliss, Mangaone. A freehold title to section 14, block 1, Puketoi, was granted to J. P. Morris.

An application by T. B. F. Brooke that section 23, block 4, Puketoi, be granted to his step-son, G. L. Stroud, in exchange for his section (13, block 3, Mount Cerberus), was left in the Commissioner s bands.

The following applications to transfer were approved :—E. Kelly to W. J. Buck, Waiobine; S. Teska and M. Goodinagb to M. Goodinugh, Mangaone ; T. Gilbert to A. F. Gilbert, Mangaone ; A. T. Simmonds to 11. Parker, Mangahao ; J. Nelson to C. Nelson, Tararua ; C. Johns to self and 11. Parker, Mount Cerberus; C. T. Tucker to W. J. Algie, Puketoi; C. H. Pasmussen to W. Brown, Tararua. It was decided to allow G. Collins to transfer section 171, block 13, Mangaone, to J. Jepsou. it. Marsh’s application to transfer his section, Mangahao block, to 11. J. Grice, was approved. T. E. Roys applied to transfer his section, Mount Cerberus, to C. K. S. Tipping, as he had to leave the colony. Decided to approve when confirmation of his having to leave the colony had been received. J. W. Moore attended regarding a reduction in the valuation of improvements on a section at Makuri, lately surrendered by Miss E. E. Moore, deceased, which was re-offered for sale loaded with such reduced valuation on the 27th October last, but had not been applied for. He was advised that there was no power to allow him to select the section, and was advised to make some reasonable proposition for settling the matter.

It was decided to decline to consider an application by Messrs Kirk, Atkinson and Wilson regarding J. Wishart's application for a refund of 18 months’ rental.

H. Neilson’s lease of section 77, blocks 14 and 15, Mangaone, was cancelled.

The following recessions of cancel lotions were approved, as the pay ments of rental have been received —A. Burling, Mangaone ;J. Kobinson, Pahiatua Village Settlement; J, Hofmeister, Tararua.

The following selectors’ interests were forfeited at their own request: —J. L. Lamg, Pahiatua Village Settlement; 11. Dyer, Mount Cerberus.

A list of 16 selectors, who bad failed to comply with the Act, was put in. It was resolved, on the report of the ranger, not to enforce residence in the following cases :—R. Old and R. S. Curbam, Puketoi.

The matter of payments in arrear on section 3, lot 1, Tutaekara Village Settlement, was left m the ranger’s hands.
