The lock-out amongst the members of the Amalgamated Engineers’ Association lias extended to Sheffield, where twelve thousand are involved. The court-martial into the recent Thrasher- Phaeton collision resulted in the dismissal of Marston, the Thrasher's helmsman. The Court acquitted Captain Kirby, the commander of tho Thrasher, and reprr-~ manded Lieutenant Graham, of the Phaeton.
Calcutta, August 29. The bubonic plague is increasing in the Poona district. Professor Haffrine’s inoculatory treatment is beiDg largely used as a protection against the scourge. Received August 29 at 11 80 a.m. Berlin, August 29. The King of Siam is visiting Germany. He was entertained at a banquet by tho Emperor. The King thanked the Kaiser for his great help in establishing post offices and telegraph lines and railways in Siam. Received 12 20 p.m. London, August 29. Latest reports from India state that as a precautionary measure tlie Khyber rifles and a portion of the Jamraad garrison have been disarmed. Reinforcements have been sent to Tamana. Signs of dissension are showing themselves among the Afridis.
