President Kruger Again. London, Augurt 25. President Kruger, in reply with regard to Mr Chamberlain’s claims to sur.eiainity, states that he desired to maintain the 1884 convention, which contained no singU word bearing precisely on the question of suzerainity. The Transvaal would not recognise the suzerainty because it was entirely opposed to the con vention. Irish National Protest. London, August 25. At a meeting of the Irish National Fedcrationists, Mr Dillon presiding, it was resolved to refrain from joining m the welcome to the Duke of York as a protest against the refusal to grant amnesty to Irish political prisoners.
