Benefit Concert to Mr A. Tuckey.
! Tiie benefit concert tendered to Mr A. I Tuckey eventuated on Friday evening, and j drew a crowded house, which fact must have boon extremely gratifying to those i who had interested themselves in getting jup the entertainment. It speaks well for j the good-heartedness of the people of the 1 district to find them always ready to do ail | in their power to assist in ameliorating the misfortunes of their less lucky fellows. The response to the call for Friday evenj ing s entertainment was prompt and ; simultaneous. Mr Tuckey’• fellow carj riors spared no time or trouble to perfect j arrangements and do all they possibly could ; Mr F. Sullivan generously placed the Public Hall at the disposal of the committee free of charge : others followed and gave their services willingly; and Mr j (’. Cooper, who had charge of the arrangements for the concert, soon prepared an attractive programme. The public did their part by rolling up in force and filling j the hall in every part. Want of spice prevents us from dealing in detail with the programme, which proved thoroughly enjoyable one. Mr and Mis* Wood opeued with n pianoforte duet “ Battle of the flowers.” Then came the following items —Song, 44 The Sleeping Camp.” Mr Mueloskey; song, “Fiddle and I,” Mrs Davis (encored) ; recitation, “ Carl the Martyr,” Mr Skinner ; song, comic. “ It takes a bit of doing,” Captain Richardson (encored): duet, ** Convent Bells.” Mr* Brown and Mr Bray ; song. “ Mv Queen.” Mr llaekott; dm':. “ All’s Well.’ Mr C. Cooper and Mr Tavlor (encored); song, “ My Wifi's Relations,” Mr Mills; song, “ Kiilaloe." Cant. Richardson ; sor.g, “Apart, Mrs Davis so i : \ “ The Tar's Farewell,” Mr Bray; hornpipe.
