Received 8.30 p.m. N«w York, December 26. Sheriff Brooks, of County Georgia, has appealed to the Governor for assistance to quell the disturbance that arose out of the desire of a number of citizens of Guitman to secure the negro who had escaped them. Four additional negroes have been killed. The Sheriff declares that he is unable to restrain the whites from committing outrages on the negroes. The outrages are alleged to be of a more revolting character than those attributed to the Turkish soldiery in Armenia. The racial war is extending in Alabama, and during the fray four persons were killed outright and thirteen others mortally wounded. Received 1 a.in. London, December 27. The Royal Society will not approach the Government officially relative to the Antarctic Expedition, but the movement will not be allowed to remain in abeyance.
