Hamlet.
Mr Walter Bentley and Cempany appeared in the Public Hall on Wednesday evening in Shakespeare’s great tragedy “ Hamlet.” There was a large audience. Mr Bentley’s appearance was, of course, the event of the evening. His scene with the ghost was admirable. The scene with the Queen in her eloset was one of the strongest situations of the evening. The death scene was very powerfully worked up and Mr Bentley was called before the curtain before the audience were satisfied. The part of the Queen was very ably acted bv Miss Mildred Bolton, and the Ophelia of Miss Ida Gresham was first-class. Messrs A. Money and Reg Rede were at home in the parts of Horatio and Polonius respectively. The other characters were ably enacted by competent ladies and gentlenaon. The scenery brought by Mr Bentley, with the stock scenery in the hall, was taken full advantage of, and altogether a most enjoyable evening was spent by thoae who patronised the entertainment. We have no hesitation in saying that should Mr Bentley see fit to come this way again he will be greeted with even a larger house.
