Mr McCool lias completed his contract for reclaiming the Pahiatua Public School ground. The surface lias been covered with 11 inches of limestone, and altogether the work has been earned out in a first - class manner. Tho total amount expended on tlie ground to date is about Hilo, being 1.7 in excess of the amount the Committee have in hand. An application is to bo made to the Education Board for this amount, and in the event of the Board declining to assist an entertainment will ho given to raise tho necessary funds.

The members have ordered new uniforms, and it is anticipated that they will ho horn in time for tlui sports on Boxing Day. Cr Bolton stated at Saturday’s meeting of the Pahiatua County Council that during the last six months the sum of £9BIO 9s 3d had been spent by the Council, and spent judiciously. A committee meeting of the Pahiatua Athletic Society was held on Friday evening at the Commercial Hotel. The principal business was the arranging of the programme of the sports. Messrs D. Knight, Tosswill and J. Gregory were appointed a sub committee to canvass for special prizes and donations. It was decided to hold an entertainment on the evening of the sports, the whole arrangements being left in the hands of the Secretary. The business concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair.

The quarterly meeting of the Masterton Licensing Committee was held at noon on Friday. Present Messrs A. Walker (Chairman), J. Hessey, C. E. Daniell, Thos, Chamberlain, J. Dawson, A. Stewart, and F. Bright. In regard to the minutes of the previous meeting, Mr Stewart said that they were slightly in error iu stating that the improvements of the Makuri Hotel were not carried out when the Constable sent his report in to the Committee. Being ill at the time he could not move in the matter when the report was received. He only stated this in fairness to the policeman in question. Applications for an extension of the hours of license were read from all the hotels in EketAhuna and Pahiatua, and were granted. The lessee of the Union Hotel, Pahiatua, was granted leave to alter the name to the Post Office Hotel.
