Mosers Abraham and Williams report We had a large entry of cattle on Thursday at Palmerston, comprised almost exclusively of fresh steers and grown store bullocks. The class was of a most serviceable character throughout. Bidding was brisk and prices firm at quotations, the rates obtained being rather above recent figures ; a total clearance was effected. Sheep were in moderate numbers. Suitable shorn hoggets below requirements, advanced slightly in price. The ewes and lambs were of inferior quality. Fat ewes and those forward in condition sold freely. At Shannon on Tuesday a small amount of stock was penned, which were readily disposed of at 9s per ewe, and 6s for hoggets (poor in wool.) Palmerston, cows with small percentage of calves made £3 12s 6d ; grown store bullocks, £4 19s to £5 2s; forward bullocks, £5 to £5 ss; 3-year steers, £4 13s to £4 17s ;2 to year steers, £3 13s to £3 19s ; others, £3 iOs ; 2-year steers, £3 10s ; 18-month heifers, £2 17s 6d ; weaners, 33s 0d to 35s ; 18-months cattle, mixed sexes, £2 12s; fat cows, £5. Sheep.—Shorn hoggets, 0s to 6s 9d ; fat ewes, 7s 6d ; forward ewes, 6s ; shorn ewes and lambs all counted, 2s 6d.

Messrs Lowes and lorns advertise particulars of an important sale of stock, implements, tools, etc., to be held at Te Ore Ore, M aster ton, on Wednesday, December sth. Mr W. H. Hawkins advertises sheep, lambs and cattle for his sale on Tuesday next at Pahiatua. He invites further entries. Mr W. IT. Haw-kins will hold an unreserved sale of furniture and sundries next Saturday at 2 o’clock. Those wanting beds and furniture should peruse the advertisement. The Knights of Labor Sports Committee have decided to add to their programme of sports on Boxing Day a twomile bicycle race. The first prizo will bo a medal valued at L2 2s (presented by Mr F. The following shearing record took place on a New South Wales station :—ln 48 hours 14,454 sheep were shorn by 22 men, being an average of 657 sheep per man per 48 hours, er 1094 sheep per man per day. One day 2766 sheep were shorn, not one man out of 22 shearing less than 105 sheep. The “ ringer "of the shed shore 215 on that day, his total number for the week being 1028. In the last three days of the shearing he shore 615.
