(From our own Correspondents). Mangaone Valley. Settlers in the Mangaone and Tawaitaia ! Valleys are complaining of the strange j disappearance of sheep since tupping, i One settler is 67 sheep short, another 17, } and another 150. Ono settler bought j some 70 of extra good quality and can ■ mow only find five. Perhaps some of j these who go pig hunting on other people » sections without permission might have an idea or two about them that would be worth knowing. I regret to hear that Mr Hodgins is j seriously ill in Wellington. His family ! were wired twice on Saturday. The late rains nave made that part of the Valley road which joins the North j Wairarapa with the Pahiatua County very aoft. Very little more wot will make it j quite as bad as in mid winter. Mr Croft is erecting a wool shed on the section of Messrs Wrlsfc. This is another substantial improvement in the Valley. Mr Shaw has already burnt his bush. : I am glad to say that although very early in the »eason tho burn appears to be ! satisfactory. Ngaturi. We regret to hear that Mr G. Winter’s child is suffering from bronchitis, and that its state is serious. Dr Gault, we believe, is attending the little sufferer. Our eincereat sympathy is to Mr’aml Mrs Winter in their trial. A sale of the Ngaturi township lands is to be held in Pahiatua in December. Since the erection of the Public School in the township people are asking fancy piiees fer their holdings. Bet tiers are already enquiring whether it will be possible to start a night >chool next Winter—an intimation that they do not intend to be left bohind in the matter of education.
