Mr Pownall, ex-Mayor, and j Councillor (billon are almost certain candidates, with Councillor It. E. Ilornblow as a probable contestant. The contest is [ expected to he the keenest yot held hero. Mr Godfrey Russell, builder, an old | resident, has been compelled to seek the ; protection of tlsc Bankruptcy Court, j l Much sympathy is felt for him. The weather during the last fow days | has been all that could he desired, with ! plenty of sunshine, but shearing is con- j ' sidorablv delayed in consequence of i former stormy weather.
