Pahiatua Rifle Club.

A meeting of the committee of the aboe* Club was held on the 6th ult. It was decided to open the season on Wednesday. 19th, with a competition for (•las* trophie*. A class to compete for Mr Heaney’s trophy. B. class Mr Smith's i trophy, and C class Mr TattaraaU's trophy, afternoon squad only, shooting to start at | 1.30. The report of the delegate* who attended i t-h® meeting of the Iluahine Ritle Associa- ) lion was read, and it was stated as the i opinion of the committee that the Aasociaj tion would prove very beneficial to the ! shooting men of the district, and will considerably increase the popularity of ride j shooting as a thoroughly useful and practical form of recreation, and will add to | the vitality and strength of the clubs now I in existence. A challenge was read from the Nerth Wairarapa Ride Club to fire a match at the end of this month or the beginning of October, but it was thought desirable le n*k the Wairarapa Club to alter tiie date to the end of October, wiisn this Club would be quite willing tc accept the challenge. There being no other business the meet ing terminated with a vote of thanks to the chair.
