REPRESENTATIVE FOOTBALL.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —It was with considerable surprise that I learnt the Bush Union decision to declare the match with Wairarapa “ off.” I: was to be played at Eketahuna. It ap pears to me that the minds of some of the Union officials were made up on the point some time ago, when they advised Wair irapa that the Eketahuna ground wa* ploughed up and the only one available was the Pahiatua ground. The ruse failing, our Union declines point blank to play the match at Eketahuna, giving no reason whatever for so doing. With all due respect to estimable old ladies running the show, I must say that their action is most s Itish and unsportsmanlike. The members of the Eketnbuua Football Club have during the last four seasons attended all the rep. practices both at Pahiatua and Woodvilla, it would only be a slight acknewledgement on the part of the Union to play the match here. Apart from the question of the rights and wrongs of the easel might say that I waschairmanof a delegates’ meeting to arrange dates and grounds for tho rep. matches with the result that the Manawatu match was to be played at Weodville, Marlborough at Pahiatua, and the Wairarapa match at Eketahuna. I have only to refer anybody to the minute book to bear out my statement in this matter. Hoping you will insert the above as justice to my club.—l am, etc., F. D. Pilling, Captain Eketahuna F. C. August 30, 1894.
