Sentenced to Death.
Some interesting Particulars, A cable from Msi bourne has inform sd * us that Mr* Aadvrsoo was sentenced to death for tho mure r of the man Fraser* It may not be gsnert.lv known as vs the Napier Telegraph i thnt it was mainly on the evidence of a Hawke’s Bay n aidant (Mr* Healey) that the woman Anderson was convicted. In May last Mrs Hsslsy was travelling by stsamsr from Sydney to Melbourne, and on tbs paaaag# she mads the srquaiatanre of Mrs Anderson, with whom she became intimate. On their arrival at Melbourne they stayed at the same place, aad took a furnished room between them. When thev were comfortably located. Mrs Audtrsou showed Mrs Heeler a five chambered revolver, loaded. She remarked that ahe had eocne over there in December to enquire a man named Fraser who had been living with her some six or seven years. He promised to marry her when be inherited hi* father a fortune, which would be a considerable amount. In Deoember his father died, and Fraser went to Melbourne about his fortune. Hs did not return sccording to Ins promise. and so she wsnt after him. She heard he was married, an interviewing him in regard to the matter, he admitted that rnich was the truth. She returned to Sydney. In con* vernation with Mrs Heeiej later aha said she would shoot Eraser. Mrs tfeelev endeavored to persuade her not to do any such thing, but apparently Mrs Aadereon wa* rsa rived to carry o«t her threat, for she made a special pocket in her skirt in which to carry tha revolver. On the ary in question, Mrs Haeley sod Mr* Anderson went out walking together, wnen the former lost sight of Mr* Anderson m the crowd. She had. it appears, caught sight of Fraasr. In the evening Mr> Vndereea having retarned horns, remarked. 44 How unfortunate this day ha* been with ms ; after I got him drunk I found I nadn’t 1 got tha revolver. I’ll never ge out wita--1 out it again. * Mrs Heeley left for New * Zealand about the 13th of*June last. Mrs Anderson coming to the wharf to see her J ’ff. when the said, in parting. “ Before • x 'ou re ash New Zealand yea wdl have : heard I ha vs doae the iriek?” Asked what she meant by tim. Mrs Aaiereoa rep.ied. 44 I’ll shoot Fraser. Mrs Heeley t told her it would be wrong to do th.t, she i •• ould be hanged. 44 No/* replied she. I** I'll shoot myself as well.” Mrs Hesley I having returned to New Zealand, the Vie- | ton an police were naturally very anxious j to find out her whereabouts, and eonse- | qusntly communicated with the aulho . • i succeeded in tracing Mr* Heeley to the Hawke’s Bay d:»tn«t. and M got iter i statement forwarded to the A >dorian Police Department. Subsequently Mrs Heeley proceeed to Melbourne, and was ! the principal witness when Mrs Anderson was tried for the murder. The result of the trial, as our cables now inform us. is that Mrs Anderson (who made an unsuccessful attempt to commit suicide l was sentenced to death.
