In each case a child held * the tree that wa« being planted, thus getting a practical lemon. Mr Murphy, the local storekeeper presented the committee with the wire for fencing off thu trees. The tree* were the gifts ■>! parent* whose children w«*e attending aC.ool. In the afternoon tho committee and several settlers formed themselves into a working bee and did some stumping. The school library has had 27 hooks added to it bringing the number up close upon a hundred. The last lot were purchased from Mr F. (r. Moore and are a real good lot of books. \ concert is to bo held in the aohoolroom on the 15th inst.., and judging lirom ti,e pro*;-amme which I have had the pleasure of seeing, there is a treat in store for those who attend. Fencing, bushfelling, and stumping are, making steady progress. The frotory is to lie opened on the Ist of September. The manager thinks there will he about 200 gallons to iUUTt »ith*
