Eketahuna Road Board.

A meeting of the Eketahuna Road Roard was hold on Saturday last. Present —Messrs Mathieson (Chairman), Anderson, I>owsott, Neilson, Bayliss.

The minutes of previous mooting wore read and confirmed. Tho Chairman then explained the result of .-..erview with the Government respecting a claim for fencing and damage eaused through taking a road through a native reserve, the lessee making a claim to the Road Board, but they consider they were not liable ns the Government took the road before disposing of the land. The Government promised to eonsider the matter after tho Native Land Court had oat.

A deputation of Stirling settlers waited on the Board asking them to take steps to raise a loan of £l*2oo for the purpose of forming and metalling roads in tho Block. Agreed to, but money will not be a vailable till naxt financial year. Another deputation waited on the Board asking for a road to be made to the Oddfellows’ Ilall in Eketahuna. —£10 voted. A letter was read from Mr King asking to replace a bridge that was burned down laet summer.— Decided to fiud out who was liable before next meeting. From McManus and Kelliher, asking Board to repair road to their sections.— Decided to expend £7. From Mr Berg stating if fencing is not ooiupleted he intends to take action against the Board.—Decided to erect same.

From S. Smith, asking the Board to fell fence line adjoining his property ; also •from P. Mcliarrow, same request. — Agreed to. It was decided to sue for ull outstanding rates. Frtsh tenders were called for additions to the Road Board office.

M Ryan's tender was accepted for olearing 15 chains of road line. The engineer’s report was then read.

It was decided to strike the following rate-: —A general rate of o-lttth of Id; and 71ft in No. I and ft wards ; 4-lftth in No *2 ward ; 2 lfith m No 4 ward.

The pay-sheet for £478 7s Id was passed for payment. The Board then adjourned.
