MANGATATAINOKA INSTITUTE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — F am Horry to *ee by the report of a public meeting in .your last imu® tlial the dtmon of discord ha« at last got a footing m that angelic community of superior persona who reside in and about tba hitherto peaceful village of Manga tainoka. and over each a wimple thing too. merely toe site for the proposed brunch of the ( olonial Institute, or literary institute or athen.< um, I forget which. Had it been about the site for a public library I should not have bean ao much surprised. The diffai ant factions seem to be pretty evenly balanced, and the result will most likely be two what you inay-eMI-Yms, one si either end or more likely uary one. It sseuis a pity that a community who would
rise as one man to make Scarborough a flag station or to anathematize Pahiatua and all its inhabitants severally and collectively should fall out ovsr such a trifle. 1 have since heard that one very wicked man packed the meeting, but 1 don’t believe it. At any rate he has got an old soldier to deal with who has passed through both love and war and knows a thing or two. 1 shall oarefolly watch your Mangatainoka reports to see how the matter will be settled.—l am, &0., Agnostic.
