Death of Rewi Maniapoto.

Auckland, This day. Rewi Manga Maniapoto, the celebrated native chief, who led the Waikato natives against the British in the war. died last night at Kihikihi, aged about 70 years. , Rewi was the hero of the famous incident at the taking of the Orakau pah, where he sent back a message that the defenders would fight on for ever and ever.—Ed. The last flood in the Tiraumea River was not the highest on record, as in the year 1881 it rose 30ft. A little boy, 12 years of age, a son of Mr Shellbourne. was kicked bv a draught horse this morning, his skull being fractured. Dr Gault was called in and the patient is now doing as well as can be expected. The Governor's speech is being delivered as we go to press.
