Kaitawa.

Mr White, of Woodville, was tho successful tenderer for Mr E. Whitcombe's bush, the tender being 265; the highest tender was 335. Twentyfour tenders were received.

The sowing of grass seed on the new bums is now completed and tho early burns are looking nicely green. Fencing is being pushed ahead in different parts of the district. There are also a few houses being put into permanent order. This is especislly noticeable in the baehelordom These young *»• n mean business. Mr Ikx.ee has about 40 sheep gone blind. He puts it down to long fead. Mr Syder is of opinion that the sheep will not permmently lose their sight. The metalling of Tiraamea Valley and other roads has ceased.

Bushfalling is starting very slowly this season : only two contracts as yet are let in the vicinity. Rather a nice young man dislocated his thumb just recently while on his way home from a tin-kettling expedition.

A concert and dance will be held in the Kaitawa public school shortly. The formation of the Tiraumea alley road and the putting in of the culverts in the same are being pushed ahead by the contractors without delay.

Wild pigeon and teal duck are not so plentiful as last shooting season. It appears that ministers of the Gospel don’: adhere to their preaching plan. The plan of a certain church show that one minister was to be in here on Tuesday. There was a muster of about 20 people to hear him, but no rev. gentleman came to expound that evening, so the congregation got a layman to preach to them.
