Plans for the New Bnildinf.
Tli. plan, of lb« do* building to bj erected for Mr Christiansen to replace the Union hotel building, lately deetroyed by .ire, show e substantial twe • storeyed odifice with all the convenienses of e first class hjtsl. Tbs front elsvalien plan represents a plain but massive structure, whioh, whsn oompleted, should be e decided improvement to tbe town. The main entrance is in the centre of the building through a hall Bft wide, with loors leading off on each side into sitting rooms. Through an archway entrance is gamed to e oassage sft wide, which mas ths entire width of ths ground door. Off this passage doors open into three sitting rooms and a dining room, ths dimensions of which latter are 25ft 6m. by 14ft. Off the lining room are the kitchen, scullery, end pantry, all commodious and convenient. The bar is situated at the south east corner of the bnildmg, with entrances trout ths froot, from the passage, end from the side sitting room. The first floor is gained by seconding the etaireeoeat the ) end of the main entrance hall. Here e passage, running almost the width ef the oufiding, divides ths structure into twe parts, doors on each sides opening into >ed and sitting rooms. There are eleven oedrooms, rouging in siio from 14ft x 6ft o 14ft x Bft. Two sitting rooms are ound upstairs, ths mse of each being 18ft •y lift 9in. At one end is situated o emus odious bathroom, and close by are >ther conveniences. The building it to he lighted throughout by panes of glows Min. x 84in. ( two peins in each window. Vltogether the plans show a building of convenient design and substantia! ap pearam-e. Mr Theodors U. Jacobsen, of Palmerston North, is the architect.
