True to the Last.

A Sad Death.

[By Telegraph—Press Association.j Wellington, This Day.

In the gale last night the lighter Speck, owned by Mr Downes, and moored in the harbor, sank. She was loaded with stone, and a man, Robert Young, in charge of her was advised to leave her as dangerous, but he refused. This morning his body was found on shore, lie had a life-belt on, and his watch, carefully wrapped in leather, was still going. Thu poor fellow had evidently tried hard to save himself. He was unmarried. It is said lights were observed on board as though the man was trying to signal, but that is not confirmed.
