L irrikinism is still rampant at Mangatainoka and the pranks of the urchins are played upon healthy and invalids alike. Mrs Polglase, who, we are sorry to record has been seriously ill for some time, was the victim of a practical joke on Saturday night. After nights of sleeplessness she had just dropped off into a slumber when she was awakened by several youngsters playing the “knocker ” trick on the front door. The trick may not be provocative of harm when played upon healthv persons, but the most idiotic should have sense enough to refrain from alarming an invalid. Until a few of these urchins have been soundly birched they will not learn to discriminate between harmless and injurious jokes.
