He favored nationalisation of mines. He received a vote of thankaand confidence. Fire in Wellington. Wellington. This Day. A house containing eight rooms, in Wright street, owned by C. F. Richmond and occupied by Tudor Atkinson, was burned dowm yesterday afternoon. The origin is unknown. Very little was saved. Both house and furniture were insured. Arrivals in the Colony. Wilumitox. This Day. \t the Anglican Synod the report of the committee appointed last year to consider the liquor traffic was received. They stated that they were unable to convince themselves that the policy of total prohibibition i* either practical or desirable. Political. Wamiam i. This Day. Mr George Mason announces his randi dature for the Wanganui seat in the Liberal interval. The candidate is a son of Mr John Mason, formerly member for the Hull.
