A Tame Contest.
The election of three Councillors to fill the vacancies caused by the retirement j through the efflux ion of time of Crs W. 'M. Mci’ardle Jnr.. G. Rottomlcv, and Hughes took place yesterday. Wilson McCordle, Jnr. 52 Edward Naylor ... ... 41 Not a solitary cheer was raised as the number- were given out, and almost immediately the few present tiled away. There is some talk of an attempt being made to upset the election on the ground of an irregularity in voting, but so far nothing definite has lieen done.
