The Chums turned round, startled, and saw, standing behind them the witch of the cave. “ You didn't think you would get, the magic oil as easily as all that, did you?” she croaked. “ But I will let you have it.” “ You will?” chorused Teddy and Golly. “ Yes, after you have been my servants for ten years.” “ Oh!” cried the Chums. Then Golly noticed that the witch was standing on the edge of the pool of magic oil. He darted forward, and with a mighty heave pushed her right into the pool.” “ Gug! gug!” spluttered the witch. “ I shall melt in the magic oil if you do not pull me out.” “ We’ll pull you out‘if you’ll set us free,” cried Golly. No sooner had he spoken than the iron gate, barring the entrance to the cave, went up with a grinding noise! " The Chums pulled the witch out of the pool and Teddv seized the jar of magic oil. They were off down the hill before the witch had recovered her breath. *
