DUNEDIN WOOL SALE

TL following appeared in last -week’s Second Edition:— ,

KEEN BIDDING FROM BRADFORD PRICES EQUAL NORTHERN SALES The fourth wool sale of the season was held on Monday at Burns Hall, when catalogues comprising about 22,000 hales were offered to a full bench of buyers. lhe quality of the offering was not up to the . standard of the previous sales, the chief contributing factor being the late-shorn clips- that were displayed, these wool* being generally heavy in condition. There were very few super halfbreds offered, and the bulk of the catalogue comprised crossbreds, of which a fair proportion had been held over from the earlier sales m the hope of an improvement in values, l-'or stylish medium crossbreds there was a good demand at prices which showed little" change from last sale, but interior and average wools declined in value. Competition for crossbreds came chiefly fromBradford, although good support was given by the Continent on any wools showing quality This section also lifted the bulk of the halfbreds offered, and also competed very keenly for all bellies and pieces. -There was very little wool offered suitable for the local mills, which in any case, had supplied the bulk of their requirements from previous sales and con seouently showed little interest. Buvers appeared to have ample orders, but at strict limits, but a noticeable feature of the sale was the extremely spirited competition for binned wools, which in most cases sold relatively better than small lots of similar quality in the main catalogue, buyers apparently showing conhdencc in the grading and get-up ot these wools. Another feature of the sale was that, although prices appeared very low. they were above London .parity. Prices were fully up to recent northern sales, but compared with last Dunedin March sale showed the following fluctuations: —
