LONDON CONFERENCE. PROSPECT OF BREAKDOWN. CALCUTTA, October 7. Alarm is growing in India over the prospect of a breakdown of the Round Table Conference. The feeling is prevalent that there is little prospect of agreement in regard to the legislative representation of the various comin unities. NO AGREEMENT REACHED. LONDON, October 8. The Conciliation Committee ended its deliberations half an hour after midnight without reaching an agreement. A PERIOD OF ANXIETY MINORITIES COMMITTEE NOT UNANIMOUS. RUGBY, October 9. Th. ruling princes of India, who are attending the Round Table Conference, were among the guests at a dinner given by the King and Queen at Buckingham Palace last night. Many members of the Royal Family were present. After a brief sitting, the Federal Structure Committee of the conference, under the chairmanship of Lord Sankey, decided to adjourn until Tuesday, when it will examine the unanimous report of the Finance sub-committee. This will be followed by discussions on the Federal Court. Lord Sankey, while expressing keen disappointment that the Minorities Committee had failed up to now to reach a final agreement, said he was not downhearted, for all were still determined that the Round Table Conference should not fail, and that the Federal Structure Committee should continue its work as to the minorities question. He had advised that they should now concentrate I on a method by which settlement was I to be obtained, rather than on what the settlement should be.

Sir Muhammad Shafi accepted the suggestion. but Mr Gandhi urged that they should proceed at once with the Federal Structure Committee.
