Seven stowaways who boarded the steamer Mahia at Auckland in the hope of getting a passage to England, were put ashore at Gisborne, and were brought before the court. Each was sentenced to a fortnight’s imprisonment. The men had stowed away in all parts of the ship—some over, and some under, the boilers, and others in the shaft tunnels.
