HOTEL COMPLETELY DESTROYED. HAMILTON, October 7. The Royal Hotel at Raglan was completely destroyed by lire early this morning. The building -was a two-storeyed structure of 24 rooms, and the proprietor was Mr B. Penney. Nothing was saved. The insurances were £4OOO on the building and contents. WELL-KNOWN TARANAKI LANDMARK. NEW PLYMOUTH, October 8. A well-known landmark in ..the Uruti district, a former coaching house, was destroyed by fire last night. The building was used as a farmhouse, and was owned by Mr W. Murray. The building was insured for £5OO in the Phcenix Office, and the contents for £390 in the Commercial Union. FURNISHED HOUSE DESTROYED. NAPIER, October 9. Traces of kerosene were found in a furnished house at Napier which was completely gutted by fire last evening. The house, a five-roomed wooden dwelling, was owned by Mr G. Wilson, who occupied a small apartment in it, leasing the remainder furnished to tenants. It was vacated yesterday by the tenants, and there was nobody cn the premises when the blaze broke out. A strong smell of kerosene was noticed when the brigade approached the blazing building, and subsequently quantities of clothing and teased flax bearing traces of liquid were found in various parts of the house, which was insured for £B5O in the Royal Exchange Assurance Office. The furniture was insured for £3OO in the South British Office.
