SHEARING INDUSTRY

WELLINGTON, August 25. A dispute connected with the shearing industry was heard by the Conciliation Council to-day. Mr P. Hally presided. Both the employers and the workers were applicants for fresh conditions, and by common consent discussion was on a Dominion basis. It was found impossible to come to terms in regard to a number of the major causes of the dispute, such as wage rates and preference, and it was decided that these and other points should be referred to the Arbitration Court for consideration.
