James Raymond Jarvie was charged at Balclutha on Friday last on language to the poundkeeper (Mr Bruce Sliller); and. secondly, with assault* ing the said poundkeeper, with intent to do bodily harm. On the obscene language charge defendant was convicted and fined £2, with costs (10s), and on the assault charge he was convicted and fined £l, with costs (6s).
