Alotorists on the country roads often encounter numbers of men tramping from town to town in search of worn A motorist who was driving to Helensville, passed a man and trudging northward with their packs on their backs. “ I spend a great deal of time driving through the country districts,” said the motorist, “but this is the first time I have seen a woman ‘carrying a swag’ The. couple I saw came from Auckland.” A decidedly _ attractive-looking young woman was giving evidence in the Auckland Supreme Court recently and was acquitting herself well under cross-examina-tion. The question of eyesight cropped up and counsel asked: “How are your eyes? ” “ Aly eyes are perfect,” came the response. “In this may Lbe allowed to agree with you?” remarked counsel after a slight pause.
