In the final of the Doubles Miss Betty Nuthall and Mrs Whittingstall beat Misses Helen Jacobs and Dorothy Round, BROOKLINE TOURNAMENT NEW YORK, Angust 26. At Brookline (Massachusetts), in the first round of the Women’s Invitation Doubles, Mrs Elsie Pittman and MBs Joan Ridley won -by default over Miss Hilda and Miss Helen B<»ehm z Malden (Massachusetts twins). PROFESSIONAL MATCHES. AN ALLEGED OFFER. PARIS, August 11. A series of tournaments in London and on the Continent, in which W. T. Tilden, Karel Kazeluh, and other noted professionals will play, is planned by the American, Mr Jack Curley, in cooperation with the well-known sports promoter, Mr Jeff Dickson. The promoters were reported to have offered Cochet a three years’ contract at £4OOO a year to turn professional and play in the tournaments, but Cochet denies knowledge of Mr Curley’s offer. He says he iiever will be induced to play professionally. NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, August 28. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association was held to-night.

It was agreed that the annual subscription by each affiliated association, including t.ne penny per capita levy to be allocated for junior lawn tennis, be threepence for every active member. It was recommended to the Management Committee to make every endeavour to arrange for New Zealand to be represented In the Davis Cup as soon as possible, provided the expense is not prohibitive. It also recommended that W. Goss (Christchurch) and A. G. Henderson (Wellington) be made life -members. Another recommendation to the Management Committee was that the services of G. Ollivier (Christchurch) be utilised as coach for the associations affiliated, the associations to he subsidised to’the extent of coach’s 1 ravelling expenses. Mr R. N. K. Swanston (Auckland) was elected president.
