GENERAL ELECTION
THE HURUNUI SEAT. CHRISTCHURCH, August 25. A meeting of Reform supporters held at "Waiau this evening carried the following resolution: —“That this meeting of supporters of the Reform Party in the Waiau, Culverden, and Rotherham districts, while affirming its confidence in Mr Coates as leader, is of the opinion that under the existing circumstances no candidate should be nominated in opposition to the Prime Minister (Mr G. W. Forbes). INDEPENDENT LABOUR CANDIDATE. AUCKLAND, August 26. An invitation to stand for Grey Lynn as an Independent Labour candidate has been accepted by Mr F. N. Bartram, who held the seat as Labour member from 1919 to 1928. Mr J. A. Lee, ex-member for Auckland East, is the official Labour candidate for the seat, for which there are now four aspirants.
