Bell birds from Little Barrier Island will be liberated in the Waitakere Ranges early next year. A letter Department of Internal Affairs, read at a recent meeting of the Auckland City Council stated, that the proposal had been approved and that the offer of the Auckland Zoological Society to bear any reasonable expenses involved had been accepted. The most suitable time for taking the birds would be about the end of January, and arrangements would be made for the director of the Dominion Museum, Wellington (Mr W. R. B. Oliver) to proceed to Little Barrier Island about that time.
