BURGLARS INTERRUPTED
POSTMASTER GIVES CHASE. MEN ESCAPE IN CAR. AUCKLAND, Augu«t 29 AOA W ?^ eUed by the bur ? la r alarm 'at 0.30 this morning Robert William Wilson, postmaster and storekeeper at Wiri hastily aroused his son aud rushed’ towards the store 50 yards away, where he saw three men runiripg across a paddock. Wilson and his son ran down the road to intercept them, and came upon a stationary car, the driver of which was apparently being held up by another man. Brandishing a revolver, Wilson says he ordered the man to put his hands up, and then the driver of the car was forced at the revolver point to get back into the car. Wilson attempted to take the number of the car, but was threatened by a revolver, and two shots were fired. The men then drove away in the direction of Auckland. A detective was summoned, and he iound that the post office door had been forced, but nothing had been stolen. He could find no revolver shells. The police were continuing their investigations today. FOUR MEN ARRESTED. *’ AUCKLAND, August 30. In connection with the Wiri hold-up four men were arrested by detectives last night after an all-day search. The police also commandeered a motor cat which it .is alleged the men used, and also a revolver.
