LOVE SONG TO MODEL
MANS STRANGE BEHAVIOUR. WELLINGTON, August 19. “ This man has previous convictions for vagrancy and apparently is addicted to drinking methylated spirits,” said Mr E. Page, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court today when sentencing William Clarence M'Sweeney to three months’ imprisonment on a charge of being an idle and disorderly person. M'Sweeney pleaded not guilty. Constable Ankins said the accused had been wandering around the streets at night and always smelt strongly of spirits. When he was arrested two bottles containing methylated spirits were found in his possession. One night last week he was seen kneeling on the ground singing to a model in one of the shop windows. Sub-inspector Lopdell: A love song? Constable Ankins: Yes, a love song to a model.
