SECTARIANISM CONDEMNED.

THE NEED OF THE HOUR. WELLINGTON, August 18.

The Dominion Executive of the British Protestant Association to-day adopted the following resolutions: — “That in the present grave crisis through which the Dominion is passing, it is imperative that all loyal citizens, above and beyond all considerations of religious creed, should co-operate with the Government to maintain our national security and integrity.” “That the appeal of the Prime Minister for support to a National Government is heartily endorsed as the best means of meeting the crisis and hastening the return to prosperity.”

“ That this association deplores any attempt, especially at a time of national peril, to divide the community by sectarian issues, often falsely and insidiously promulgated by ungodly and unscrupulous paid agents.” “ That an earnest appeal be made to the Christian churches boldly to stand for principles above party, for charity above sectarianism, for country above self, and thus to promote the highest possible citizenship.”

“ That this association stands by the open Bible as the nation's charter of civil and religious liberty, and appeals to all Christians to support the Bible-in-Schools Bill in an effort to secure Bible reading in schools as agreed to by all the main Protestant churches and the Roman Catholic Hierarchy.”
