All kinds of amusements had been arranged, including a merry-go-round, donkey rides, games, etc., and tea was served in one of the Harbour Board sheds, which had been gaily decorated for the occasion. Perhaps the chief attraction to the young guests was the model, airship filled with some 200 balloons. After being pulled across the sheds it was broken and, much to tlie children’s delight, the balloons scattered everywhere. Great interest was also taken in the fine collection of old ships’ figureheads which ornaments the base, and the boys were keenly anxious to be told their history, which the sailors in their turn wore just as keen to impart. The graduation ball which took place last Friday evening turned the scholastic atmosphere of the University into one of revelry. A large number of’dancers were present, and two lecture rooms approaching the hall were arranged as lounges for those who were not dancing. The officers of the General Baquedano, the Chilian training ship, were guests at the ball, and Sir George Fowlds, who was accompanied by Lady Fowlds, was also present. The Chilian training ship, the General Baquedano, is leaving Auckland for Valparaiso to-morrow, after having been in port for 11 days, during which time they have been most happily entertained by the
