REMANDED ON BAIL
ALLEGED THEFT OF GOODS. CHRISTCHURCH, August 7 Charged at Christchurch with stealing goods valued at £5OO from Maling and Co., Ernest Cooper Smith, aged 45, formerly manager of Aitchison and Steans, merchants, was remanded by Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., till Tuesday. Counsel for the defence said there was some doubt regarding the case, and investigations were being made. Bail was fixed at £250.
