Gouldie at the British Lawn Tennis Association's council meeting. WIMBLEDON TOURNAMENT SEEDING FOR MEN S SINGLES. LONDON. June 17. Those seeded in the men’s lawn tennis singles at Wimbledon are S. Wood and F. Shields (America), Cochet, Boussus. and Borotra (France), Perry and Austin (Britain), and Satos (Japan). The New Zealander, Malfroy, was not seeded. DAVIS CUP CONTEST. DENMARK ELIMINATED. COPENHAGEN, June 17. Czechoslovakia eliminated Denmark, and will meet England in the final of the European zone contest.
THE SELECT EIGHT. TWO ENGLISHMEN INCLUDED. RUGBY, June 17. This is the first time since full “seeding ” has been in operation in the Wimbledon Men’s Singles that two Englishmen have been among the select eight. In the Women’s Singles the “ seeded ” players are Misses Nuttall and Mudford and Mrs Whittingstall, nee Miss Eileen Bennett (Britain), Fraulein Ausseni, and Krahwinkel (Germany), Madame Mathieu (France), Miss Jacobs (America), and Senorita d’Alvarez (Spain). BRITISH WOMEN PLAYERS. EASY WIN AGAINST FRANCE. RUGBY, June 17. bi the Women’s International Lawn Tennis contest at Eastbourne to-day, Britain defeated France, winning all the six matches. EASY WIN AGAINST FRANCE. RUGBY, June 18. bi the second day’s play of the ladies’ international match against France at Eastbourne Britain again won all the singles and doubles matches. During the two days’ encounter Britain won by 12 matches to love.
