MESSAGES OF SYMPATHY.
RUGBY, October 7. The King has received messages expressing sympathy from their Majesties the Kings of Belgium, Denmark, Egypt, Italy. Sweden and Norway. Messages have also been received by his Majesty from the Presidents of France, Switzer land, Portugal and Lithuania, and from the Regent of Hungary. The Prime Minister has also received messages of condolence from Dr Eckenci and the crew of the Graf Zeppelin, and from Messrs Costes and Bellonte (the noted French airmen). The Air Ministry has received a large number of telegrams and letters of sympathy from military, naval and air forces throughout the w'orld. October 9. Messages of sympathy continue to reach the Prime Minister. Those received ysterday include one from the Prime Minister of Sweden. Mr Ramsay MacDonald sent the following telegram to M. Tardieu :—“ You and the French people have indeed shown us that our sorrow is yours. n he generous honours which you did yester day have been appreciated deeply by the families of those who are gone, and have filled the whole nai with profound gratitude. On behalf of the Government I thank you with all my heart.”
